Bio: I started my guiding career in 1965 when my father opened a small outfitting business near Blackville, N. B. I also guided at the Old River Lodge and Wades Fishing Club. I am now freelancing and might pop up in camps just about anywhere on the Miramichi system. I am most knowledgeable about the lower Cains , lower Dungarvon and Renous rivers, and the Miramichi between Doaktown and Quarryville.

Other Interests: Fishing, Golf (I’m a member of River Bend Golf and Fishing Club on the Nashwaak River). I’ve travelled a fair amount throughout North America and Europe. I read a lot and am a professional writer. I have been published numerous times in magazines throughout Canada and the United States, and am the author of nine books, including the Americans Are Coming, The Last Tasmanian(winner of the Thomas Raddall Award for best fiction in Atlantic Canada), The Lone Angler, the Silent Partner, and Luther Corhern’s Salmon Camp Chronicals which was short listed for the Stephen Leacock Award for Canadian Humour. Two of my plays were produced in professional theaters in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. My books have been read both regionally and nationally on CBC Radioand I have read and performed (comedy) on stages in every province east of British Columbia. I am one of the founding members and was the first president of the Oriole Angler’s Club.

herb,

Are you the Curtis that guided out of Jack Sullivan’s camp in the middle to late 60’s?

Please let me know,

Dick Hoyer
